© Randy Son Of RobertThe Romans truly love flowers. Beautiful flowers used to adorn the heads of the people of Ancient Rome. Flower petals were commonly used to adorn the path that the Caesar is walking on. Flowers were also heavily used in reverence to the dead. Flowers were used to adorn parades and statues. There are always flowers around in Ancient Rome.
I wonder if the Ancient Romans bought their flowers and flower seedsat the Forum Romanum, which at first was market-place and later the civic centre of ancient Rome? Or maybe they bought the flowers at the Forum Holitorium, the vegetable market of Rome. If I could go back to the ancient time, I would go to the markets and just watch the people and smell the smells of Ancient Rome...
Anyways, flowers have been on earth for the longest time. The history of flowers starts long before humans lived. Flowering plants abruptly appeared during the Cretaceous Period, imagine, that was over 100 million years ago when dinosaurs roamed!
